Here's the simple version: meprobamate already calms the brain to ease anxiety, and its main downsides are drowsiness, dizziness, and slowed reaction times. The concern with jackfruit is that it could add to that sedation, leaving you more groggy or unsteady than you'd expect.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from animal studies using jackfruit seeds, not the sweet fruit you eat, and not from human research. So enjoying jackfruit as a food is very unlikely to cause trouble. A concentrated seed extract or supplement is where I'd be more cautious. If you plan to use one of those, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Meprobamate Used For?

Brand names: Equanil, Miltown, Meprospan, Neuramate

Meprobamate tablets are used to manage anxiety disorders or to provide short-term relief of anxiety symptoms. It is intended for anxiety that rises to the level of a disorder — everyday stress and tension that most people experience generally do not require this type of medication.

Because its effectiveness beyond four months has not been well studied, meprobamate is typically used for a limited period of time, with a prescriber checking in regularly to decide whether continued use is still appropriate.
