Here is the idea behind this pairing. Fostamatinib calms an overactive immune system so your body stops destroying its own platelets. Jiaogulan, on the other hand, has been shown in some lab and animal work to stimulate the immune system. So in theory, taking it alongside Fostamatinib could work against what the medicine is trying to do and make it less effective.

If that happened, you might see your platelet counts slip back down, which can mean more easy bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding gums. I want to stress this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave, not something proven in people taking both together. Still, since keeping your platelets up really matters, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding jiaogulan.

About Fostamatinib

What Is Fostamatinib Used For?

Brand name: Tavalisse

Tavalisse (fostamatinib) is used to treat thrombocytopenia — dangerously low platelet counts — in adults with chronic immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It is specifically for people whose platelet counts have not improved enough with at least one earlier ITP treatment.

The goal is to raise platelet counts high enough to reduce the risk of serious bleeding. If platelet counts do not respond sufficiently after 12 weeks, the medication is typically stopped.
