Here's the honest picture with Caplyta (lumateperone) and jiaogulan. The interaction we have on file is really about jiaogulan and immunosuppressant medicines, which it might weaken by nudging the immune system to be more active. Lumateperone is not an immunosuppressant at all. It's an antipsychotic that works on brain chemicals like dopamine and serotonin to treat schizophrenia, so this particular immune-related concern doesn't really apply to it.

This is also a theoretical flag based on how jiaogulan behaves in lab and animal studies, not strong human proof. Still, because jiaogulan can affect blood pressure and blood sugar, and lumateperone matters for your mental health, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Lumateperone Used For?

Brand name: Caplyta

Caplyta (lumateperone) is approved for adults with schizophrenia, depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder (bipolar depression), and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).

For bipolar depression, Caplyta can be used on its own or alongside lithium or valproate. For MDD, Caplyta is used together with an antidepressant — not on its own as a standalone antidepressant.
