Ephedrine Sulfate, Hydroxyzine, Theophylline falls under STIMULANT DRUGS — the group Khat interacts with.

Cathinone, a constituent of khat, appears to have sympathomimetic effects and can increase blood pressure and heart rate. Theoretically, combining khat with other central nervous system (CNS) stimulant drugs might increase the risk of cardiovascular toxicity. Some CNS stimulants include nicotine, cocaine, sympathomimetic amines, and amphetamines.

Here's the concern with this combo. Khat's main active ingredient, cathinone, acts a lot like an amphetamine. It revs up your heart and raises your blood pressure. Your medication already contains ephedrine (a stimulant) and theophylline (which also speeds up the heart and nervous system). Stacking khat on top of these adds more stimulation, so the worry is too much of a good thing: a racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, spiking blood pressure, trouble sleeping, and in serious cases real strain on the heart.

One honest note: this warning is based on how these drugs work in theory, not on hard studies of people taking them together. Even so, the direction is clear. Khat is also illegal in the U.S. and unsafe on its own, so please don't use it. If you have questions about your medication, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
