Limonene + Warfarin
Warfarin brand name: Warfarin.
Limonene has a moderate interaction with Warfarin. There's preliminary evidence that limonene might be a substrate for cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9), as well causing its induction.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Warfarin
Warfarin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Limonene interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for warfarin. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to break warfarin down. Lab and animal research hints that concentrated limonene might speed that enzyme up. If it does, your body could clear warfarin a little faster, which would make it weaker at thinning your blood and could nudge your INR lower, raising the risk of a clot.
I want to be honest about how shaky this is: it has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never reported in people, and the citrus-peel amounts in food almost certainly won't matter. Warfarin is a touchy drug where small swings count, so if you're thinking about a limonene supplement, run it by your doctor or pharmacist first and keep up with your regular INR checks.

About Limonene
What is Limonene?
- Heartburn and acid reflux
- Digestive upset
- Stress and mood support
- Antioxidant support
- General wellness
Limonene is a natural compound found in the peel of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, and it is used as a flavoring agent and dietary supplement. People take it for heartburn, digestion, and general wellness, but solid human evidence is limited. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Warfarin
What Is Warfarin Used For?
Brand name: Warfarin
Warfarin sodium tablets and Jantoven tablets are both used to prevent and treat venous thrombosis (blood clots in the veins) and pulmonary embolism (a clot in the lungs). They are also used to prevent clot-related complications in people with atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm) or who have had a heart valve replaced.
In people who have had a heart attack, warfarin is used to reduce the risk of death, another heart attack, stroke, or other clotting events. It does not dissolve an existing clot, but it helps prevent the clot from growing and stops new dangerous clots from forming.
