Amitriptyline, Perphenazine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Limonene interacts with.

There's preliminary evidence that limonene might be a substrate for cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9), as well causing its induction. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, watch for a decrease in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 in patients taking limonene. Some drugs metabolized by CYP2C9 include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as diclofenac (Cataflam, Voltaren), ibuprofen (Motrin), meloxicam (Mobic), and piroxicam (Feldene); celecoxib (Celebrex); amitriptyline (Elavil); warfarin (Coumadin); glipizide (Glucotrol); losartan (Cozaar); and others.

Here's the short version on combining limonene with your Triavil (the amitriptyline plus perphenazine combo). The thinking is that concentrated limonene supplements might speed up an enzyme called CYP2C9, which helps break down amitriptyline. If that enzyme works faster, your body could clear the amitriptyline a bit quicker, which in theory might make it slightly less effective for things like depression or nerve pain.

Honestly, this is very early science, seen only in lab and animal studies and never actually reported in real people. The amount of limonene you'd get from eating an orange is not a concern at all. I wouldn't lose sleep over this, but if you're using a concentrated limonene capsule, just give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up so they can keep an eye on how well your medicine is working.
