Limonene + Irbesartan
Irbesartan brand names: Avapro, Aprovel.
Limonene has a moderate interaction with Irbesartan. There's preliminary evidence that limonene might be a substrate for cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9), as well causing its induction.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Irbesartan
Irbesartan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Limonene interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for irbesartan (Avapro). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help process this blood pressure medicine. In lab and animal studies, limonene seems to speed up that same enzyme. If that happened in people, your body might clear irbesartan a little faster, which could make it work less well. In plain terms, your blood pressure could creep up, or your readings might not stay as controlled as usual.
Now, the reassuring part: this is only early test-tube and animal evidence, and it has not been seen in real patients. The small amounts of limonene in oranges, lemons, or food flavoring are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting one and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

- Heartburn and acid reflux
- Digestive upset
- Stress and mood support
- Antioxidant support
- General wellness
Limonene is a natural compound found in the peel of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, and it is used as a flavoring agent and dietary supplement. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Irbesartan
What Is Irbesartan Used For?
Brand names: Avapro, Aprovel
Irbesartan lowers high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks. It may be used alone or with other blood pressure medicines.
It is also used to treat diabetic nephropathy (kidney disease from diabetes). This applies to people with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, raised serum creatinine and protein in the urine. In this group, it slows how fast the kidney disease gets worse.

Irbesartan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Irbesartan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Limonene — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
