Limonene + Valsartan
Valsartan brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan.
Limonene has a moderate interaction with Valsartan. There's preliminary evidence that limonene might be a substrate for cytochrome P450 2C9 (CYP2C9), as well causing its induction.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Valsartan
Valsartan falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Limonene interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for valsartan (Diovan). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to help process this medicine. Early lab and animal research hints that concentrated limonene supplements might speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could clear valsartan a little faster, which in theory could mean it works a bit less well. For a blood pressure or heart medicine, that might show up as numbers creeping back up.
I want to be honest though: this has never been reported in actual patients, and the evidence is only test-tube level. The limonene you get from eating oranges or lemons isn't a concern. If you're thinking about a concentrated supplement, just run it past your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood pressure.

About Limonene
What is Limonene?
- Heartburn and acid reflux
- Digestive upset
- Stress and mood support
- Antioxidant support
- General wellness
Limonene is a natural compound found in the peel of citrus fruits like oranges and lemons, and it is used as a flavoring agent and dietary supplement. People take it for heartburn, digestion, and general wellness, but solid human evidence is limited. It is generally well tolerated in food amounts, but talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.
About Valsartan
What Is Valsartan Used For?
Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan
Valsartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have a weakened heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.
Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (other brands) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.

Valsartan Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Valsartan as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Limonene — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
