Mestranol, Norethindrone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) INDUCERS — the group Limonene interacts with.

There's preliminary evidence that limonene might be a substrate for cytochrome P450 2C19 (CYP2C19). CYP2C19 inducers might decrease the effects of limonene. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. Inducers of CYP2C19 include carbamazepine (Tegretol), prednisone (Deltasone), and rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane).

Here's the key thing to understand about this one: the interaction runs in the opposite direction from what you might expect. It's not that your birth control pill (mestranol with norethindrone) changes how limonene works in your body. Rather, this combo pill can act as a mild nudge on an enzyme called CYP2C19, and that enzyme is one pathway your body uses to break down limonene. In theory, that could clear the limonene a bit faster and make it a little less effective.

The good news: this is based only on lab and animal data, not real people, so it's very weak evidence. Your contraceptive protection and its usual effects (things like spotting or nausea) should not change. If you take concentrated limonene supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye on it.
