This combination product (Amesec) contains amobarbital, a barbiturate that works in the brain much like older seizure medicines. The concern on file is theoretical: pairing lithium with brain-acting drugs like this may raise the chance of nervous-system side effects. We don't have solid proof this happens with the small lithium doses in supplements like lithium orotate, so it's more a caution than a known danger.

If both were combined, the worry would be added drowsiness, confusion, unsteadiness, tremor, or feeling foggy. Honestly, the evidence here is weak. Still, before you take any lithium supplement alongside Amesec, please check with your pharmacist or doctor so they can look at your full picture.

Xanthines such as aminophylline, caffeine, and theophylline (Theo-Dur, Theo-24, others) might increase the clearance of lithium. It is unclear if this interaction would be clinically significant with the smaller doses found in lithium supplements.

Here's the gist for this combo product (Amesec contains aminophylline, a methylxanthine, along with amobarbital and ephedrine). The aminophylline part is the piece that interacts with lithium. Based on how these drugs behave in the body, methylxanthines like aminophylline can speed up how fast your kidneys flush out lithium. In plain terms, that means your lithium levels could drop, so a lithium product may not work as well for mood support.

I want to be honest about the strength of this: it's theoretical, based on pharmacology rather than strong human studies, and it's unclear whether the small amounts in lithium supplements would matter much. Still, since lithium has a narrow safety window, please run this pairing by your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
