Moringa + Clonazepam
Clonazepam brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon.
Moringa has a moderate interaction with Clonazepam. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Clonazepam
Clonazepam falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the deal with moringa and your clonazepam. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break clonazepam down, and moringa might nudge that enzyme one way or the other. The catch is that lab studies disagree: some hint moringa slows the enzyme (which could let clonazepam build up, meaning more drowsiness, dizziness, or feeling foggy), while others suggest it speeds the enzyme up (which could make clonazepam wear off faster and work less well for your seizures or panic).
Honestly, this is theoretical, based on test-tube and animal work, not on people taking clonazepam. A human study with a related drug showed no change at all. So food amounts of moringa likely don't matter much. Still, since the direction is uncertain, check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a concentrated moringa supplement.

Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonazepam page
“Clonazepam (Klonopin) slows brain activity to control seizures and panic, and most of what interacts with it pushes in one of two directions: deepening that sedation or changing how much drug is in your blood. This is a list to approach carefully.”

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Clonazepam
What Is Clonazepam Used For?
Brand names: Klonopin, Rivotril, Ceberclon
Clonazepam is approved to treat several types of seizures — including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a severe form of epilepsy), akinetic seizures (sudden loss of muscle tone), myoclonic seizures (sudden muscle jerks), and absence seizures (brief lapses of awareness) in patients who haven't responded to other medicines.
It is also approved for panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia (fear of situations that might cause panic). Panic disorder involves repeated, unexpected panic attacks along with ongoing worry about having more attacks.

Clonazepam Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Clonazepam as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Moringa — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
