Theoretically, moringa might decrease the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.

Here's the gist for riluzole. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to break this medicine down. In lab studies, moringa appears to speed that enzyme up. If that holds true in people, your body could clear riluzole a little faster, which might leave less of it working to protect your nerve and muscle signaling in ALS.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. It comes only from test-tube research, the rating is minor, and we have no real proof it matters in everyday life. A pinch of moringa as food is unlikely to do much, while concentrated capsules are a bigger question mark. Before adding a moringa supplement, run it by your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on things.

What Is Riluzole Used For?

Brand names: Rilutek, Tiglutik, Exservan

Riluzole is approved to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) — the progressive neurological disease also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This indication is shared across all available riluzole products, including tablets (Rilutek, riluzole), the dissolving oral film (Exservan), and the oral suspension (Tiglutik).

Tiglutik oral suspension is notable in that it can also be given through a PEG-tube (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy tube) for patients who have difficulty swallowing.
