Moringa + Rifampin
Rifampin brand names: Rifadin, Rimactane, Rifadin Injection, Rofactor.
Moringa has a moderate interaction with Rifampin. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Rifampin
Rifampin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with moringa and rifampin. Your TB medicine is partly handled by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, moringa has pulled in both directions: some studies suggest it slows this enzyme down, while others suggest it speeds it up. So we can't even say for sure which way it would push rifampin's levels.
The good news is that this is theoretical, based only on test-tube and animal work. In an actual human study using a similar medication, moringa didn't change drug levels at all. Food amounts of moringa leaf are very unlikely to matter. Still, rifampin is too important to gamble with, so check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a concentrated moringa supplement.

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Rifampin
What Is Rifampin Used For?
Brand names: Rifadin, Rimactane, Rifadin Injection, Rofactor
Rifampin treats all forms of tuberculosis (TB). It is almost always used in combination with other antibiotics — your doctor will build a multi-drug regimen tailored to your infection. Treatment usually runs for at least 6 months total.
Rifampin is also used to clear Neisseria meningitidis bacteria from the nose and throat in people who carry the germ without being sick themselves. It is not used to treat active meningococcal disease. The intravenous (IV) forms — Rifadin IV, Rifadin IV NOVAPLUS, and the injectable form of Rifampin — are specifically indicated when a patient cannot take the drug by mouth.

Rifampin Is Linked to Lower Levels of 8 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Rifampin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Moringa — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
