Moringa + Cyclobenzaprine
Cyclobenzaprine brand names: Cyclobenzaprine, Flexeril, Cycloprine.
Cyclobenzaprine falls into 2 drug categories that Moringa can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, moringa might increase or decrease levels of CYP3A4 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Moringa interacts with whole categories of medication. Cyclobenzaprine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Moringa in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Cyclobenzaprine
Cyclobenzaprine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Moringa interacts with.
Some in vitro research suggests that moringa inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4). However, other in vitro research suggests that moringa extract induces CYP3A4 enzymes. A pharmacokinetic study in patients with HIV shows no change in the pharmacokinetics of nevirapine, which is partially metabolized by CYP3A4, when administered concomitantly with moringa leaf powder 1.85 grams daily for 14 days.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with moringa and cyclobenzaprine. Your body partly uses a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this muscle relaxer down. In the test tube, moringa has gone both ways: some studies show it slowing that enzyme, others show it speeding it up. So we can't even say for sure which direction this would push.
If moringa slowed the enzyme, cyclobenzaprine could build up and you might feel extra drowsy, foggy, dizzy, or dry-mouthed. If it sped things up, the medicine might not relax your muscles as well. The catch is this is theoretical, based only on lab work, and a human study found no real change with another similar drug. Food amounts likely don't matter much. With concentrated supplements, just check with your pharmacist first.

CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
2 of 2Cyclobenzaprine also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES.
In vitro research shows that moringa extract induces CYP1A2 enzymes.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril). Your body relies partly on a liver enzyme called CYP1A2 to clear this muscle relaxant. Lab studies suggest moringa may rev up (induce) that enzyme, which could mean your body clears cyclobenzaprine a bit faster. In plain terms, the medication might work slightly less well, so you may notice less muscle relaxation and less pain relief.
I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern based only on test-tube research, and it's rated minor. Everyday food amounts of moringa leaf are very unlikely to cause a problem. If you're using concentrated moringa supplements regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well your cyclobenzaprine is working.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.

About Moringa
What is Moringa?
- Nutritional supplement
- Blood sugar support
- Cholesterol support
- Inflammation
- Skin conditions
Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
About Cyclobenzaprine
What Is Cyclobenzaprine Used For?
Brand names: Cyclobenzaprine, Flexeril, Cycloprine
Cyclobenzaprine tablets and extended-release capsules are used alongside rest and physical therapy to relieve muscle spasm caused by acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions — easing pain, tenderness, and limited movement. This use is intended for short-term treatment only (up to 2–3 weeks).
Tonmya, the sublingual (under-the-tongue) form of cyclobenzaprine, is separately indicated for the treatment of fibromyalgia in adults. It is not the same as the oral tablet or capsule formulations.
