Moringa and Dapagliflozin

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS

Why this applies to Dapagliflozin

Dapagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Moringa interacts with.

Theoretically, moringa might have additive effects when used with antidiabetes drugs; however, research is conflicting.
Animal research shows that moringa can lower blood glucose levels. However, research in humans has not shown consistent blood glucose lowering effects.
Severity Minor Likelihood Possible Evidence B

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version for moringa and Farxiga (dapagliflozin). Both can nudge your blood sugar in the same direction, so taking them together could, in theory, lower it a bit more than Farxiga alone. If that happened, you might notice signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling unusually tired.

That said, I'd keep this in perspective. The blood-sugar effect of moringa is mostly seen in animal studies, and human results have been all over the map, so this is a minor, possible concern, not a strong one. Food amounts of moringa leaf are unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using concentrated supplements, just check your blood sugar as usual and let your pharmacist or doctor know before adding it.

About Moringa

What is Moringa?

  • Nutritional supplement
  • Blood sugar support
  • Cholesterol support
  • Inflammation
  • Skin conditions

Moringa is a nutrient-rich plant whose leaves are widely used as a food and supplement, especially in parts of the world where malnutrition is common. Early research hints at possible benefits for blood sugar, cholesterol, and inflammation, but the human evidence is limited and not strong enough to recommend it as a treatment. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using moringa, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medications.
