POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS
Why this applies to Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium
Bendroflumethiazide, Potassium falls under POTASSIUM-SPARING DIURETICS — the group Noni interacts with.
Noni juice contains significant amounts of potassium, about 6 mEq/100 mL juice. This may increase the risk for hyperkalemia when used in conjunction with potassium-sparing diuretics, which can also increase potassium levels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: your medicine already adds potassium, both from the potassium supplement built into it and because some combination products are paired to protect potassium levels. Noni juice is naturally rich in potassium too, roughly 6 mEq in every 100 mL. So stacking noni on top of a potassium-containing product could push your blood potassium higher than you want.
Too much potassium (called hyperkalemia) can cause muscle weakness, tingling, an irregular or slow heartbeat, and in serious cases dangerous rhythm problems. I'll be honest, this is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence, not strong studies. Still, since both raise potassium, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding noni, especially if you have kidney issues.

Noni is a tropical fruit used widely in folk medicine and sold mostly as a juice or supplement, but solid human evidence for its many claimed benefits is limited. While moderate juice intake is generally well tolerated, there are rare reports of liver problems, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it, especially if you have kidney or liver disease.
