Here's the simple version: enalapril already lowers your blood pressure, and some early research hints that noni juice may nudge blood pressure down a little too. Put them together and those two effects could stack up. That might leave you feeling dizzy or lightheaded, especially when you stand up quickly, along with possible tiredness or a brief headache.

I want to be honest about how strong this is. The concern is mostly theoretical and rests on weak, anecdotal evidence, so for most people it's not a big deal. Still, if you'd like to try noni, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first. Don't change your enalapril on your own, and check in if you notice new dizziness after adding it.

Noni juice contains significant amounts of potassium, about 6 mEq/100 mL juice. This may increase the risk for hyperkalemia when used in conjunction with ACE inhibitors, which can also increase potassium levels.

Here's the thing to keep an eye on with this combo. Enalapril (Vasotec, Epaned) already tends to raise your potassium levels as part of how it relaxes your blood vessels and protects your kidneys. Noni juice happens to be fairly rich in potassium too, roughly 6 mEq per 100 mL. So if you drink a good amount of noni regularly while taking enalapril, the two together could nudge your potassium higher than is comfortable, a state called hyperkalemia.

I'll be honest, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on anecdotal reports, not strong studies. Still, high potassium can cause muscle weakness, tingling, or an irregular heartbeat, so it's worth a heads-up. An occasional sip is unlikely to matter, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using noni daily, especially if you have kidney trouble.

About Enalapril

What Is Enalapril Used For?

Brand names: Vasotec, Epaned

Enalapril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children older than one month, and to treat symptomatic heart failure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

It is also used for asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction — when the heart's pumping ability is reduced but the person doesn't yet have obvious heart failure symptoms — to slow the progression to overt heart failure and reduce hospitalizations. Enalapril maleate oral solution (including Epaned) and enalapril maleate tablets (including Vasotec) share these three approved uses.
