Amiloride, Hydrochlorothiazide falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Octopamine interacts with.

In humans, octopamine 450-600 mg daily increases blood pressure in hypotensive patients. However, evidence from animal research suggests that octopamine can lower blood pressure. Theoretically, concomitant use of octopamine and antihypertensive drugs might potentiate and/or reduce the activity of antihypertensive drugs.
Some antihypertensive drugs include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others.

Here's the deal with octopamine and your water pill combo (amiloride/hydrochlorothiazide). This supplement acts a bit like adrenaline, nudging the same receptors that influence your heart rate and blood pressure. Since you're taking this medication to lower your blood pressure, adding a stimulant-like product could work against it and push your numbers back up. You might notice your blood pressure creeping higher, a faster or pounding heartbeat, or feeling jittery.

Honestly, the evidence here is mixed and not very strong. In some studies octopamine raised blood pressure, while animal data hint it could lower it, so the direction isn't fully nailed down. Because your heart and blood pressure are involved, I'd play it safe and check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Amiloride and Hydrochlorothiazide Used For?

Brand names: Moduretic, Amilzide, Moduret 25, Amil-Co

Amiloride hydrochloride and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used for patients with high blood pressure (hypertension) or congestive heart failure who tend to develop low potassium (hypokalemia) when taking a thiazide or other diuretic alone — or for whom keeping potassium levels in a normal range is especially important, such as people taking digoxin or those with significant heart rhythm problems.

The tablets may be used on their own or alongside other blood pressure medicines, such as methyldopa or beta blockers. This combination product is not intended as the first-choice treatment for swelling (edema) or high blood pressure unless low potassium is a specific concern.
