No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Octopamine and Lidocaine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Octopamine and Lidocaine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Lidocaine and Octopamine in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Lidocaine

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Lidocaine is filed under 5 classifications — including anesthesia, cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates, topical drugs. Octopamine has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antihypertensive drugs (moderate), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (maois) (moderate) and stimulant drugs (minor) — and none of Lidocaine’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Octopamine Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Lidocaine. It is the side-effect record for Octopamine on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Octopamine, this list is the first place to look. 2 entries are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Dehydration / Chest pain Worth acting on Additional detail

“Octopamine is commonly used as a stimulant. Due to its chemical similarities to synephrine, a stimulant with the potential to cause severe cardiovascular effects, Health Canada has set the maximum daily dose of octopamine at 50 mg.”

“Octopamine is chemically similar to synephrine, a stimulant that might cause severe adverse effects in some patients. Due to theoretical concerns for stimulant-related adverse effects, Health Canada has set the maximum daily dose of octopamine at 50 mg. However, clinical evidence on the safety of octopamine at any dose is lacking.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Octopamine — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Lidocaine’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Lidocaine column appears here.

About Octopamine

What is Octopamine?

  • Weight loss and fat burning
  • Boosting energy
  • Athletic performance
  • Appetite suppression

Octopamine is a stimulant-like compound found in small amounts in some plants (such as bitter orange) and made naturally in the body. It is marketed mostly in weight-loss and sports supplements, but human evidence that it actually helps with fat loss or performance is very limited. Because it can affect the heart and blood pressure and is banned in some sports, talk to a pharmacist or doctor before using it.

Octopamine is a naturally occurring compound; supplement forms are usually synthetic or derived from bitter orange (Citrus aurantium) peel · Capsules, tablets, powders (often in fat-burner and pre-workout blends)

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Octopamine is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Octopamine record says about it on its own.

Octopamine: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose for octopamine as a supplement. It usually appears in combination products, and amounts vary widely from one brand to another. If you choose to use a product containing octopamine, follow the directions on the label and do not exceed them.

About Lidocaine Transdermal Patch

What Is Lidocaine Transdermal Patch Used For?

Brand names: Xylocaine, Dilocaine, Lidoject-1, Xylocaine MPF, Nervocaine, Lidoject-2, Duo-Trach Kit, Octocaine, Lidoderm, Ztlido

Lidocaine skin patches are applied directly to the painful area to treat post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) — the persistent burning or aching nerve pain that can remain after a shingles outbreak.
