Padang Cassia + Desmopressin Acetate
Desmopressin Acetate brand names: DDAVP, Noctiva, Nocdurna.
We found no known interaction between Padang Cassia and Desmopressin Acetate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Padang Cassia and Desmopressin Acetate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Desmopressin Acetate and Padang Cassia in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Desmopressin Acetate
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Desmopressin Acetate is filed under a single classification — oral drugs. Padang Cassia has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being antidiabetes drugs (moderate), cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates (moderate) and hepatotoxic drugs (moderate) — and none of Desmopressin Acetate’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Desmopressin Acetate Is Prescribed For, and What Padang Cassia Has Been Studied For
These two come up together because they touch the same health topic — not because they do the same job. Desmopressin Acetate is a prescription medicine with approved uses on its FDA label. Padang Cassia is a supplement: what follows is what researchers have looked at it for, and how strong that evidence is.
Desmopressin Acetate is prescribed for: Desmopressin is used for central diabetes insipidus, a condition where the body doesn't make enough antidiuretic hormone and produces too much urine. It also treats the temporary extreme thirst and urination that can follow head trauma or pituitary surgery (tablets and injection). Some products are used for bleeding disorders. Desmopressin injection and Stimate nasal spray are used for mild-to-moderate hemophilia A and von Willebrand’s disease (Type I).

Desmopressin and Ddavp tablets are also used for primary nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting). It does not work for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus, where the kidneys don't respond to the hormone.

Padang Cassia for diabetes
A small clinical study in adults with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes despite the use of two oral antidiabetes medications shows that taking a specific product containing a combination of the extracts of Padang cassia and banaba leaf (Inlacin, Dexa Medica) 100 mg daily for 12 weeks reduces glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) by 0.65% when compared to baseline.

Effectiveness ratings and the research summaries above are the verbatim record from the Natural Medicines database, which grades evidence from “Effective” down to “Insufficient Reliable Evidence To Rate”. A rating below the top of that scale means researchers have looked at it — not that it works, and never that it can stand in for a prescribed medicine. Do not stop or replace Desmopressin Acetate on your own; if you are taking Padang Cassia for the same health topic, tell your prescriber, especially if the medicine is being adjusted to a target.

This page covers Padang Cassia only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Desmopressin Acetate page lists 17 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), Coffee Charcoal (moderate), European Mandrake (moderate), Glucomannan (moderate) and Guar Gum (moderate).
By severity: 1 major · 7 moderate · 9 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Desmopressin Acetate page
“Every one of the 17 supplements flagged for desmopressin acetate (DDAVP, Nocdurna, Noctiva) works the same basic way, by changing how much of the drug is absorbed from the gut, and that deserves real attention. Desmopressin controls urine output in diabetes insipidus and nighttime urination, and only a small fraction of an oral dose re…”

About Padang Cassia
What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
Cinnamomum burmannii · Lauraceae · Inner bark (and bark-derived essential oil) · Ground spice, dried bark sticks (quills), capsules, powder, extract, essential oil, tea
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Padang Cassia is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Padang Cassia record says about it on its own.
Padang Cassia: dosing
There is no official, standardized dose of Padang Cassia for any health condition. Amounts used in studies vary widely and are not specific to this species. If you choose to use a cinnamon supplement, follow the directions on the product label and do not exceed the recommended amount. Because cassia cinnamons are higher in coumarin, it is wise to keep concentrated supplement doses low and to avoid taking them every day for long periods.Using Padang Cassia as a normal cooking spice is a low-risk way to enjoy it.
