Indacaterol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

In vitro research shows that a methanol extract of Padang cassia inhibits cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity. Theoretically, taking Padang cassia with CYP3A4 substrates might increase the effects and side effects of these substrates.

Indacaterol is a long-acting inhaler medicine that opens up your airways to help you breathe easier if you have COPD. Your liver partly uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear it. The concern here is that concentrated Padang cassia (a cassia cinnamon) may slow that enzyme down, which could in theory let a little more indacaterol hang around in your body.

If that happened, you might notice more of its usual side effects, like a faster or pounding heartbeat, shakiness or tremor, headache, or feeling jittery. But honestly, this is based only on lab (test tube) research, not real people, so it's a weak, theoretical signal. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is no concern. Before starting a cinnamon supplement, just check with your pharmacist or doctor.
