Insulin Glargine falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.

Some clinical research shows that Padang cassia can reduce blood glucose levels in healthy patients and in patients with diabetes or impaired glucose tolerance (prediabetes). Here's the simple version: insulin glargine (Basaglar, Lusduna, Semglee) is your long-acting background insulin, and its whole job is to lower blood sugar. Some lower-quality studies suggest that Padang cassia, a type of cassia cinnamon, may nudge blood sugar down a little on its own. So if you take a concentrated cinnamon supplement on top of your insulin, the two could add up and push your sugar lower than you intended.

In real life that means a higher chance of hypoglycemia: shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded. The evidence here is modest, and sprinkling cinnamon on your food is unlikely to matter. But before starting a daily cinnamon capsule, check with your pharmacist or doctor. They may want you to watch your readings a bit more closely. Cassia cinnamon also contains coumarin, which can stress the liver in large supplement doses.

What Is Insulin Glargine (rDNA origin) Injection Used For?

Brand names: Basaglar, Lusduna, Semglee

Insulin glargine is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, and in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a long-acting insulin that works around the clock to help keep blood sugar levels stable.

Insulin glargine is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous complication where the blood becomes acidic due to very high blood sugar).
