Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Interferon Gamma-1b
Interferon Gamma-1b falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Concentrated cassia cinnamon, like Padang cassia, naturally contains a compound called coumarin. In large supplement doses, coumarin can stress the liver in sensitive people. Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) can itself sometimes raise liver enzymes, so the worry is that stacking two things that both lean on the liver could add up.
This isn't about the cinnamon changing how your medicine works. It's more that both can be tough on the liver at the same time. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical, based mostly on animal data and very high coumarin doses. Sprinkling cinnamon on your oatmeal is unlikely to matter. Concentrated capsules are a different story. Watch for yellowing skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting a cinnamon supplement.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Interferon Gamma-1b page
“Liver injury is the first thing to understand about supplements and interferon gamma-1b (Actimmune), a drug given for serious immune conditions that can strain the liver on its own. All three major-rated interactions here point that way: Siberian cocklebur, an herb linked to liver failure, plus alcohol in the form of beer and wine.”

About Padang Cassia
What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.

What Is Interferon Gamma-1b Injection Used For?
Brand name: Actimmune
Actimmune (interferon gamma-1b) is approved for two specific inherited conditions. First, it reduces how often and how severely serious infections occur in people with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) — a rare inherited disorder where certain immune cells can't fight off infections properly.
