HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Teclistamab-cqyv
Teclistamab-cqyv falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Padang Cassia interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Teclistamab (Tecvayli) is a strong immune therapy for multiple myeloma, and one of the things your care team watches closely is your liver. It can raise liver enzymes on its own. Padang cassia is a cassia-type cinnamon that naturally contains coumarin, which in very large or concentrated amounts has been linked to liver irritation. The worry is simply stacking two things that can both stress the liver.
This concern is theoretical, based on how coumarin behaves, not on real reports with this drug, so please don't panic. Sprinkling cinnamon on your food is not the issue. The caution is about concentrated cinnamon supplements taken daily. Since your team already monitors your liver on Tecvayli, check with your oncology pharmacist or doctor before adding any cinnamon supplement.

What is Padang Cassia?
- Adding flavor to food
- Digestive upset
- Blood sugar support
- Antimicrobial purposes
- Antioxidant support
Padang Cassia is a type of cinnamon (Indonesian or Korintje cinnamon) grown mainly in Indonesia and used widely as a kitchen spice. As a supplement, evidence for health benefits like blood sugar control is limited and mixed, and like other cassia cinnamons it naturally contains coumarin, which can be harmful to the liver in large amounts. Use food amounts freely, but talk to a pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated cinnamon supplements.
