Fosamprenavir falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist for Fosamprenavir. This HIV medicine is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. There's a theory that passion flower might gently speed up that enzyme, which could push more of the drug out of your system. If that happened, blood levels of fosamprenavir might dip a little, and in theory that could make it work less well at keeping HIV in check.

I want to be honest about the evidence: this concern comes only from lab (test tube) studies, and any enzyme-speeding effect looked much weaker than known strong inducers. So this is mostly theoretical and rated as a minor interaction. Still, because keeping HIV suppressed really matters, please run passion flower by your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

About Fosamprenavir

What Is Fosamprenavir Used For?

Brand names: Lexiva, Telzir

Fosamprenavir tablets (sold as Fosamprenavir Calcium and Lexiva) are used together with other antiretroviral medicines to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and in children as young as 4 weeks old. It is not used alone — it is always part of a combination regimen.

For adults who have already taken protease inhibitor medicines before, fosamprenavir is used alongside a low dose of ritonavir. Once-daily dosing with ritonavir is not recommended for adults who have previously used protease inhibitors, or for any pediatric patients.
