Selinexor falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Passion Flower interacts with.

Theoretically, passion flower might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research suggests that passion flower can induce CYP3A4 enzymes, albeit to a much lower degree than rifampin, a known CYP3A4 inducer.

Here's the gist for Selinexor (Xpovio): your body partly clears it using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Passion flower, in early lab research only, seemed to gently speed up that enzyme. If that happened in real life, it could nudge your body to break down Selinexor a bit faster, which might mean slightly less of the cancer-fighting effect you're counting on.

I want to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical concern from test-tube studies, and the effect on the enzyme was far weaker than known boosters like rifampin. Still, because Selinexor is serious cancer therapy where you don't want anything chipping away at its benefit, please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before adding passion flower.

What Is Selinexor Used For?

Brand name: Xpovio

Xpovio (selinexor) is used to treat multiple myeloma in adults. When used together with bortezomib and dexamethasone, it is for adults who have had at least one prior treatment. This combination is sometimes called XVd.

Xpovio is also used with dexamethasone alone (called Xd) for adults with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma — meaning the cancer came back or stopped responding — who have already tried at least four prior therapies and whose disease no longer responds to several other standard drug types.
