Here's the thing to know about pairing red yeast rice with miconazole. Red yeast rice naturally contains lovastatin, a statin your liver clears using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Miconazole can slow that same enzyme down, so the lovastatin from your red yeast rice may linger and build up to higher levels than usual. In plain terms, you could feel statin-type side effects more strongly, like muscle aches, weakness, or tenderness, and rarely liver strain.

This concern is mostly theoretical, based on how the drugs work rather than real-world reports, so don't panic. It also matters more with oral miconazole than a vaginal cream or skin product, where very little gets into your bloodstream. Still, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
