Fidaxomicin brand name: Dificid.
Rhodiola has a moderate interaction with Fidaxomicin. Theoretically, rhodiola might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Fidaxomicin
Fidaxomicin falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Rhodiola interacts with.
In vitro research shows that rhodiola inhibits P-glycoprotein. Theoretically, using rhodiola with P-glycoprotein substrates might increase drug levels and potentially increase the risk of adverse effects.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for fidaxomicin (Dificid). Your body uses a kind of cellular gatekeeper called P-glycoprotein to help move this antibiotic in and out. Rhodiola, at least in lab dish studies, can slow that gatekeeper down. In theory, that could let a bit more fidaxomicin linger in your system, which might nudge up side effects like nausea, stomach pain, or vomiting.
I'd put this one in the more theoretical than proven bucket. The concern comes from test-tube research, not real people, so we honestly don't know if it matters in everyday use. Fidaxomicin also mostly stays in your gut, which works in your favor here. Still, since you're treating a serious C. diff infection, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding rhodiola.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Fidaxomicin page
“If you are taking fidaxomicin (Dificid) for a Clostridioides difficile infection, supplements are not a side issue, because anything that weakens this drug risks letting a hard-to-treat infection come back. Three entries rated major top my concerns.”

About Rhodiola
What is Rhodiola?
- Fatigue and low energy
- Stress and coping (adaptogen)
- Mental performance and focus
- Mild depression
- Physical and exercise performance
Rhodiola is an herb traditionally used to fight fatigue and help the body cope with stress. Some small studies suggest it may modestly reduce fatigue and improve mood, but the evidence is limited and not strong. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before trying it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Fidaxomicin
What Is Fidaxomicin Used For?
Brand name: Dificid
Fidaxomicin treats C. difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) — a bacterial infection in the gut caused by Clostridioides difficile that leads to significant diarrhea and intestinal inflammation. Fidaxomicin tablets are approved for adult patients. Dificid (as tablets or oral suspension) is approved for both adults and children 6 months of age and older.
Because fidaxomicin works almost entirely inside the gut and is barely absorbed into the bloodstream, it is only effective against C. difficile and should not be used for any other type of infection.
