Rhodiola + Sitagliptin
Sitagliptin brand names: Januvia, Zituvio.
Rhodiola has a moderate interaction with Sitagliptin. Theoretically, taking rhodiola with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.

ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to Sitagliptin
Sitagliptin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Rhodiola interacts with.
In vitro and animal research shows that rhodiola extract can decrease blood glucose due to alpha-glucosidase activity.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: Rhodiola may have a mild blood-sugar-lowering effect of its own. In lab and animal studies, it seems to slow an enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates, which can nudge glucose levels down. Pair that with sitagliptin (Januvia), which is already helping your body lower blood sugar after meals, and the two together could in theory push your numbers a little lower than expected.
I want to be honest, though: this is theoretical and only backed by test-tube and animal research, so it's far from a sure thing. If you do try Rhodiola, just keep an eye out for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, and check your readings if you can. Please loop in your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

About Rhodiola
What is Rhodiola?
- Fatigue and low energy
- Stress and coping (adaptogen)
- Mental performance and focus
- Mild depression
- Physical and exercise performance
Rhodiola is an herb traditionally used to fight fatigue and help the body cope with stress. Some small studies suggest it may modestly reduce fatigue and improve mood, but the evidence is limited and not strong. It is generally well tolerated for short-term use, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before trying it, and avoid it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
About Sitagliptin
What Is Sitagliptin Used For?
Brand names: Januvia, Zituvio
Sitagliptin is used alongside diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is available as tablets (Januvia, Zituvio, and generic sitagliptin products) and as an oral solution (Brynovin), all approved for this same use.
Sitagliptin is not for type 1 diabetes. It has not been studied in people with a history of pancreatitis, so its safety in that group is unknown.

Sitagliptin Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Sitagliptin as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Rhodiola — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
