Here's the honest picture with Symbicort, which combines budesonide (an inhaled steroid) and formoterol (a long-acting bronchodilator). The concern on file is that rooibos might block a liver enzyme called CYP2C19, which could in theory slow how your body clears certain drugs and let them build up a little. Neither of these isn't a prodrug, so if anything happened, you'd expect slightly stronger drug effects, not weaker ones.

But the key word here is theoretical. This comes only from lab studies on concentrated rooibos extract, not from people. Sipping rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. If you're using strong extract capsules, just mention it to your pharmacist so they can keep an eye out.
