Elagolix Sodium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Rooibos interacts with.

Theoretically, taking rooibos with CYP3A4 substrates may increase the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that the methanol extract of rooibos leaves and stems strongly inhibits CYP3A4 enzyme activity.

Here's the gist for your Orilissa (elagolix). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break elagolix down and clear it out. Lab studies suggest that compounds in rooibos may slow that enzyme. In theory, if rooibos blocks CYP3A4, a bit more elagolix could linger in your system, which might nudge up its usual effects, things like hot flashes, headaches, nausea, mood changes, or trouble sleeping.

The honest part: this is based only on test-tube research, not on people drinking rooibos tea. A normal cup or two of tea is very unlikely to cause a real problem. Concentrated rooibos extracts are the bigger unknown. If you use those, or just want peace of mind, check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Orilissa (elagolix) is used to treat moderate to severe pain associated with endometriosis — a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing significant pain.

This includes general pelvic pain as well as pain during sex (dyspareunia). How long you can take it depends on your dose and your overall health, so your prescriber will tailor the treatment duration to you.
