Glyburide, Metformin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C9 (CYP2C9) SUBSTRATES — the group Rooibos interacts with.

Theoretically, taking rooibos with CYP2C9 substrates may increase the effects of CYP2C9 substrates.
In vitro research shows that the methanol extract of rooibos leaves and stems inhibits CYP2C9 enzyme activity.

Glucovance is a combo pill, and the glyburide part is the piece that matters here. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2C9 to clear glyburide out of your system. In test-tube studies, a concentrated rooibos extract slowed that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, glyburide could build up a bit, and since glyburide lowers blood sugar, the main worry would be going too low (shakiness, sweating, dizziness, confusion, or feeling unusually hungry).

The good news: this is only theoretical, based on lab data, not people. A regular cup or two of rooibos tea is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated rooibos supplements are the bigger question mark. If you use those, check with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood sugar.
