Here's the gist with Limbitrol (amitriptyline plus chlordiazepoxide). Both halves of this pill already slow you down: amitriptyline is a sedating tricyclic antidepressant, and chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine, so together they can make you drowsy, foggy, or dizzy. Sassafras is thought to have its own mild sedative quality, so on paper, stacking it on top could add to that sleepiness, leave you unsteady, or make it harder to think clearly.

I want to be honest though: this concern is theoretical, based on how things might behave rather than real-world reports. The bigger worry is sassafras itself, since its safrole content is linked to liver harm and cancer, which is why I'd steer clear of it internally. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before mixing the two.
