Here's the thing to know about pairing sassafras with Dayvigo (lemborexant). Lemborexant is a sleep medicine that calms brain activity to help you fall and stay asleep. Sassafras has been reported to have its own mild sedative-type effects, so the concern is simple addition: two things that can make you drowsy, stacked together. In theory that could leave you feeling more groggy, dizzy, or unsteady the next morning, with a higher chance of next-day sleepiness or a foggy head.

I want to be honest that this is a theoretical caution based on how these things work, not strong human studies. Sassafras also carries real safety problems of its own (safrole can harm the liver and is a cancer concern), so I'd skip it entirely and check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Sassafras is an aromatic North American tree whose root bark and oil were once popular in teas and as a flavoring, but it contains safrole, a compound the FDA has banned in foods because it can cause cancer and liver damage. There is no good evidence it safely treats any health condition, and most experts recommend avoiding internal use. If you want the flavor, choose products that are labeled safrole-free.
