Esomeprazole, Naproxen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Schisandra interacts with.

Theoretically, schisandra might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2C19 substrates.
In vitro research shows that schisandra inhibits CYP2C19, and animal research shows that schisandra increases the concentration of voriconazole, a CYP2C19 substrate. Theoretically, schisandra may also inhibit the metabolism of other CYP2C19 substrates. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Vimovo combines two medicines: esomeprazole (an acid reducer) and naproxen (an anti-inflammatory pain reliever). The esomeprazole part is cleared by a liver enzyme called CYP2C19. In test-tube studies, schisandra appears to slow that enzyme down, which could in theory let esomeprazole build up a bit higher in your body.

Here's the honest picture: this is only seen in lab and animal research, never reported in real people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Even if esomeprazole levels nudged up, it's a generally safe drug. Schisandra wouldn't change the naproxen side, so your usual stomach and bleeding cautions stay the same. If you take Vimovo regularly, just mention the schisandra to your pharmacist or doctor before starting it.

Vimovo combines naproxen (a pain and inflammation reliever) with esomeprazole (a stomach acid blocker). The naproxen part is handled partly by a liver enzyme called CYP2C9. Lab and animal studies hint that schisandra may speed that enzyme up, which could clear naproxen a little faster and, in theory, make it work less well for your pain or arthritis.

Here's the honest part: this has only been seen in test tubes and animals, never confirmed in people, so it's a fairly weak, theoretical concern. I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, if you start a schisandra supplement and notice your pain isn't as controlled, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Schisandra can increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Most clinical and laboratory research shows that schisandra, administered either as a single dose or up to twice daily for 14 days, inhibits CYP3A4 and increases the concentration of CYP3A4 substrates such as cyclophosphamide, midazolam, tacrolimus, and talinolol. Although one in vitro and animal study shows that schisandra may induce CYP3A4 metabolism, this effect appears to be overpowered by schisandra's CYP3A4 inhibitory activity and has not been reported in humans.

Neither drug is mainly handled by CYP3A4, which makes a big problem less likely.
