Minocycline Hydrochloride falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Schisandra interacts with.

Schisandra might increase the levels and clinical effects of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that schisandra extracts and constituents such as schisandrin B inhibit P-glycoprotein mediated efflux in intestinal cells and in P-glycoprotein over-expressing cell lines. Additionally, a small clinical study shows that schisandra increases the peak concentration and overall exposure to talinolol, a P-glycoprotein probe substrate. Theoretically, schisandra might inhibit the efflux of other P-glycoprotein substrates.

Here's the gist with minocycline and schisandra. There's a tiny pump in your gut wall called P-glycoprotein that helps push some drugs back out before they're fully absorbed. Schisandra may slow that pump down. In theory, that could let a bit more minocycline into your bloodstream, which might nudge up its usual side effects like dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, or stomach upset.

I want to be straight with you, though: this concern comes mostly from lab and animal studies, not from solid human trials with minocycline itself, so it's more of a maybe than a sure thing. If you'd like to use both, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first and watch for feeling unusually woozy or queasy.

Human evidence is limited and most claims are not well proven, but it appears reasonably well tolerated by most healthy adults when used short term. About Minocycline

What Is Minocycline Used For?

Brand names: Ximino, Minolira

Oral and intravenous minocycline products treat many serious bacterial infections, including Rocky Mountain spotted fever, respiratory tract infections, sexually transmitted infections such as lymphogranuloma venereum and nongonococcal urethritis, plague, cholera, brucellosis, tularemia, and others caused by susceptible organisms. MINOCIN Intravenous is used when oral therapy is not adequate or tolerated.

Extended-release oral minocycline tablets are indicated specifically for inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 12 years and older — not for treating infections. AMZEEQ (topical foam) treats inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe acne vulgaris in patients 9 years and older. ZILXI (topical foam) and EMROSI (oral capsule) are indicated for inflammatory lesions of rosacea in adults. ARESTIN (oral powder placed by a dental professional) is used alongside scaling and root planing to reduce pocket depth in adult periodontitis.
