Aripiprazole Lauroxil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, inhibits cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6. Theoretically, schizonepeta might increase the effects and side effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), flecainide (Tambocor), haloperidol (Haldol), imipramine (Tofranil), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), ondansetron (Zofran), paroxetine (Paxil), risperidone (Risperdal), tramadol (Ultram), venlafaxine (Effexor), and others.

Aristada is a long-acting injectable form of aripiprazole, and your liver relies partly on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear it from your body. Schizonepeta contains a compound that, in lab and animal studies, appears to slow that enzyme down. In theory, that could let aripiprazole build up a bit higher than usual, which might mean more of its typical side effects, like restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, tremor, or feeling unusually sleepy or agitated.

The important thing to know is that this is based only on test-tube and animal research, not on real people, so the actual risk is uncertain. Since Aristada is dosed as a scheduled injection, even small shifts are worth a heads-up. I wouldn't change anything on your own. Just mention the herb to your prescriber or pharmacist before combining them.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the gist for the Aristada injection. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear aripiprazole from your body. Early lab and animal work hints that a compound in Schizonepeta may speed up that enzyme. If that turned out to be true in people, your body might break down the aripiprazole a bit faster, which could weaken how well it controls your symptoms over time. Since this is a long-acting shot for schizophrenia or bipolar I, anything that lowers the level slightly could risk a return of symptoms like mood changes or disrupted thinking.

That said, the evidence here is very thin, just test-tube and animal data, so this is theoretical, not proven. Please don't stop anything. Just run the herb past your pharmacist or prescriber first.

Aripiprazole injection is used to treat schizophrenia and to provide maintenance treatment for bipolar I disorder in adults. Different injectable products carry these approvals.

Abilify Asimtufii is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults and as maintenance monotherapy for bipolar I disorder in adults. Aristada is approved for the treatment of schizophrenia in adults, with Aristada Initio used specifically to help start Aristada therapy.
