Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Bazedoxifene Acetate, Conjugated Estrogens
Bazedoxifene Acetate, Conjugated Estrogens falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with Duavee (conjugated estrogens plus bazedoxifene). Your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down both the estrogen and the bazedoxifene parts of this medicine. A compound in Schizonepeta may speed that enzyme up, at least based on early animal research. In theory, that could clear the medicine out a little faster, which might mean less relief from hot flashes or slightly less protection for your bones.
I want to be honest: this is a theoretical concern from lab and animal data, not proven in people, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Still, don't start, stop, or change anything on your own. Just mention the herb to your pharmacist or doctor so they can keep an eye on how well Duavee is working for you.

Schizonepeta is a mint-family herb long used in traditional Chinese medicine, usually as part of combination formulas for colds, fevers, and itchy skin conditions. About Estrogen and Bazedoxifene
What Is Estrogen and Bazedoxifene Used For?
Brand name: Duavee
-
Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are used to treat hot flashes (sudden feelings of warmth, especially in the face, neck, and chest) in women who are experiencing menopause (stage of life when menstrual periods become less frequent and stop and women may experience other symptoms and body changes). Estrogen and bazedoxifene tablets are also used to prevent osteoporosis (condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in women who have undergone menopause. Estrogen is in a class of medications called hormones and bazedoxifene is in a class of medications called estrogen agonist–antagonists. Estrogen works by replacing estrogen that is normally produced by the body. Bazedoxifene is used to block the action of estrogen on the lining of the uterus, decreasing the risk of overgrowth that may lead to cancer.
