Salmeterol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Schizonepeta interacts with.

Animal research suggests that schizonepetin, a monoterpene constituent of schizonepeta, induces cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. Theoretically, schizonepeta might decrease the effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
Some substrates of CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others.

Here's the basic idea with Salmeterol (Serevent). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help clear this medicine. Animal and lab studies hint that a compound in Schizonepeta may speed that enzyme up. If that happened in people, your body could break down salmeterol a little faster, which in theory might make it a touch less effective at keeping your airways open. That could show up as more wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath than usual.

I want to be honest though: this is very weak, theoretical evidence (no human studies), so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Salmeterol isn't a prodrug, so the direction here points toward slightly weaker effect, not stronger. Before adding Schizonepeta, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Salmeterol Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand name: Serevent

Serevent Diskus (salmeterol inhalation powder) is used for three main purposes: treating asthma in patients aged 4 and older alongside an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS), preventing exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) in patients aged 4 and older, and providing long-term maintenance treatment of bronchospasm associated with COPD — including chronic bronchitis and emphysema — in adults.

Important: Serevent Diskus is not a rescue inhaler. It will not relieve a sudden asthma or COPD attack. For asthma, it must always be used together with an inhaled corticosteroid — using it alone for asthma is contraindicated due to a serious risk of asthma-related death.
