Here's the simple version: amphetamine already revs up your nervous system, which is exactly how it helps with ADHD or narcolepsy. Securinega suffruticosa contains securinine, a compound that also stimulates the nervous system by blocking some of the brain's natural calming signals. Stacking two stimulating effects on top of each other could push things too far.

If you combine them, you might see more of amphetamine's familiar overstimulation problems: a racing or pounding heart, higher blood pressure, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, anxiety, and in the worst case, seizures (which securinine itself can trigger). I want to be honest that this is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds work, not strong human studies. Still, this plant is not a safe self-care product, so please check with your doctor or pharmacist before using anything that contains it.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
