Here's the simple version: both of these things rev up your nervous system, just from different angles. Ecstasy (MDMA) floods your brain with stimulating chemicals and pushes up your heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure. Securinine, the active alkaloid in this plant, also winds the nervous system up by blocking your body's natural calming signals. Stack two stimulants like this and you could see effects pile on top of each other, things like a racing heart, dangerous overheating, agitation, very high blood pressure, or even seizures.

I want to be honest about the evidence here: this concern is theoretical, based mainly on animal research and how these compounds work, not on solid human studies. Even so, combining two nervous-system stimulants is genuinely risky. Please talk with a doctor or pharmacist before going anywhere near this plant.
