Here's the concern with combining this plant and your Dimetapp DM. The alkaloid in Securinega, securinine, revs up the nervous system by blocking calming GABA signals, so it acts like a stimulant. Your cold combo already contains phenylephrine, a decongestant that stimulates the body and can raise heart rate and blood pressure. Stacking two stimulating things together could, in theory, push those effects higher.

What might you feel? More jitteriness, a racing or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping, or feeling wired. In serious cases securinine can trigger seizures, which is why I'd steer clear of this plant entirely. Just so you know, this warning is based on pharmacology and animal data, not human studies. Securinega isn't a safe, well-studied supplement, so please talk with your pharmacist or doctor before using it at all.
