Theoretically, St. John's wort might inhibit reuptake and increase levels of serotonin, resulting in additive effects with serotonergic drugs.
Concomitant use of serotonergic drugs with St. John's wort can lead to increased adverse effects and increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstriction disorders.

Here's the thing to keep in mind with eletriptan (Relpax) and St. John's wort. Eletriptan is a triptan that works on serotonin receptors to ease your migraine. St. John's wort can nudge serotonin levels up on its own. Put the two together and you may be piling serotonin on top of serotonin, which can raise the risk of serotonin syndrome, things like a racing heart, agitation, shivering, sweating, muscle twitching, or feeling flushed and dizzy.

To be fair, this warning is mostly theoretical, based on how both work rather than lots of reported cases, so I don't want to scare you. Still, since both also can tighten blood vessels, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Eletriptan Used For?

Brand name: Relpax

Eletriptan tablets — sold as Relpax, Eletriptan HBR, and Eletriptan Hydrobromide — are taken at the onset of a migraine to relieve the headache and associated symptoms. They are meant to treat an attack that is already happening, not to prevent future migraines.

Eletriptan is only appropriate when a clear migraine diagnosis has been confirmed by a healthcare provider. It is not approved for cluster headaches, and its use in those cases has not been studied.
