Sulforaphane + Aspirin, Pentazocine
Aspirin, Pentazocine brand name: Talwin Compound.
Sulforaphane has a moderate interaction with Aspirin, Pentazocine. Theoretically, sulforaphane might alter the levels and clinical effects of CYP1A2 substrates.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Aspirin, Pentazocine
Aspirin, Pentazocine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Sulforaphane interacts with.
Animal and in vitro research shows that sulforaphane inhibits CYP1A2 enzyme activity. However, its precursor glucoraphanin also appears to increase the expression of the CYP1A2 enzyme, which could lead to increased metabolism of CYP1A2 substrates. These effects have not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Talwin Compound combines aspirin with pentazocine, a pain reliever. The concern here is that your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help process some medications, and lab and animal studies suggest sulforaphane can tug on that enzyme in two opposite directions. It may slow the enzyme down (which could let a drug build up), but a related compound from broccoli may also speed the enzyme up (clearing the drug faster). Honestly, scientists have not seen either effect play out in real people.
The bottom line: this is a theoretical interaction based only on test-tube and animal work. Eating broccoli is not a worry. Before starting a concentrated sulforaphane supplement alongside Talwin, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor to be safe.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Aspirin, Pentazocine page
“Talwin Compound pairs pentazocine, an opioid painkiller, with aspirin, and I read its supplement list with more concern than most. The great majority of entries do one of two things: raise the bleeding risk that aspirin already carries, or deepen the sedation pentazocine causes.”

About Sulforaphane
What is Sulforaphane?
- Antioxidant support
- General cellular health
- Detoxification support
- Inflammation
- Skin and aging concerns
Sulforaphane is a natural compound found in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables that has shown promising antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in lab studies, but strong human evidence for most specific health claims is still limited. It is generally well tolerated as part of a vegetable-rich diet, but if you take a concentrated supplement, talk to your pharmacist or doctor first.
