Theoretically, taking swamp milkweed with prolonged corticosteroid therapy might increase the risk of toxicity.
Swamp milkweed contains cardioactive steroids known as cardenolides that may have digitalis-like activity. Long-term corticosteroid use can lead to potassium depletion and electrolyte imbalance, which can increase the risk of cardenolide toxicity.

Here's the thing to understand about this pairing. Swamp Milkweed contains heart-acting compounds (cardenolides) that behave a bit like the old heart drug digitalis. They get more dangerous when your body's potassium runs low. That's where fluticasone comes in. Fluticasone is a corticosteroid, and over long stretches steroids can nudge your potassium down and throw off your electrolytes. Lower potassium can make those milkweed heart compounds more toxic, raising the risk of an irregular heartbeat.

I'll be straight with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how these things work, not proven cases. Also, inhaled or nasal fluticasone (Flonase, Flovent) reaches the bloodstream far less than oral steroids, so the worry is smaller there. Honestly, Swamp Milkweed isn't safe to take as a supplement anyway. Please check with your pharmacist before combining them.
