Clopidogrel falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sweet Clover interacts with.

Theoretically, fresh sweet clover might increase the risk of bleeding when used with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
Fresh sweet clover contains coumarinic acids, which are converted to free coumarins during drying. Dicoumarol, which has anticoagulant activity, also has been found in some sweet clover preparations and can be formed if fresh sweet clover is allowed to spoil.

Here's the thing to keep in mind: Clopidogrel (Plavix) already works to keep your blood from clotting too easily by making your platelets less sticky. Sweet clover can add a separate blood-thinning push of its own, mostly when the plant has been allowed to spoil or ferment, because that's when it forms dicoumarol, a compound with real anticoagulant activity. Stack that on top of Plavix and you could tip toward too much thinning.

What might that look like? Easier bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that are slow to stop. To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how the chemistry works, not strong human studies. Still, with a medicine as important as Plavix, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

What Is Clopidogrel Used For?

Brand name: Plavix

Clopidogrel tablets are used to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) — including unstable angina and non-ST-elevation or ST-elevation heart attacks — and in people with a history of recent heart attack, recent stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. For ACS, it is typically given alongside aspirin.

It works by preventing platelets (blood cells that trigger clotting) from clumping together, which helps keep arteries open and lowers the chance of a dangerous clot forming.
