Dalteparin falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sweet Woodruff interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the effects of some anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs and increase the risk of bleeding.
Sweet woodruff contains coumarin and coumarin derivatives. However, the levels of coumarin found in sweet woodruff are so low that clinically relevant effects are doubtful. Until more is known, use with caution.

Here's the gist: Dalteparin (Fragmin) is an injectable blood thinner that lowers your blood's ability to clot. Sweet woodruff naturally contains a compound called coumarin, which has mild blood-thinning properties of its own. Stacked on top of dalteparin, the worry is that your blood could become a little too thin, which on paper could nudge up your risk of bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or harder-to-stop bleeding.

The good news: this is theoretical only, based on how the chemistry works rather than real cases. The amount of coumarin in sweet woodruff is usually so small that a meaningful effect is doubtful. Still, since you're already on a blood thinner, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it.

Sweet woodruff is a fragrant European herb traditionally used for digestion, calming, and various other complaints, but solid human evidence for any of these uses is lacking. It contains coumarin, which can be harmful in large amounts, so it should be used only sparingly and avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using it.

About Dalteparin Injection

What Is Dalteparin Injection Used For?

Brand name: Fragmin

Fragmin (dalteparin) injection is used to prevent blood clots (deep vein thrombosis, or DVT) in people having hip replacement or abdominal surgery, and in hospitalized patients who are largely immobile due to acute illness. It is also used to reduce ischemic complications — meaning clot-related events — in people with unstable angina or a type of heart attack called non-Q-wave MI, when given alongside aspirin.

Fragmin is approved for the extended treatment of symptomatic venous thromboembolism (VTE — blood clots in the veins or lungs) in adults with cancer, to reduce the chance of clots coming back, for up to six months. It is also approved to treat symptomatic VTE in pediatric patients from birth (at least 35 weeks gestational age) onward. Fragmin is not intended for the acute (immediate emergency) treatment of VTE.
