Dipyridamole falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Sweet Woodruff interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use might increase the effects of some anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs and increase the risk of bleeding.
Sweet woodruff contains coumarin and coumarin derivatives. However, the levels of coumarin found in sweet woodruff are so low that clinically relevant effects are doubtful. Until more is known, use with caution.

Here's the simple version: Dipyridamole is a blood thinner that keeps your platelets from clumping into clots, which is exactly what you want after a heart valve replacement. Sweet woodruff contains coumarin, a natural compound that may have a mild blood-thinning quality of its own. Stack the two together and, in theory, you could nudge your bleeding risk up a notch, think easier bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer to stop.

Now, the honest part: this concern is theoretical and based on how the chemistry looks on paper, not on real cases. The coumarin amounts in sweet woodruff are very low, so a problem is unlikely. Still, since you're on dipyridamole for a serious reason, please run any sweet woodruff use past your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Dipyridamole Used For?

Brand names: Persantine, Dipyridamole, Persantin, Persantin Injection, Persantin Retard

Dipyridamole tablets are used alongside warfarin (a blood thinner) to help prevent dangerous blood clots from forming after cardiac valve replacement surgery. It is not used alone for this purpose — it works as an add-on to anticoagulant therapy.

Dipyridamole Injection is used as an alternative to exercise during thallium myocardial perfusion imaging — a type of heart scan that checks blood flow through the coronary arteries. It is given to patients who are unable to exercise adequately for the test.
