Here's the connection worth knowing. Methantheline (Banthine) is an anticholinergic, which means it slows down the muscles and movement in your gut. Because your body absorbs thyroid hormone from your digestive tract, anything that changes how things move or sit in your stomach and intestines can nudge how much of that hormone gets in. So if you're taking a thyroid extract along with Banthine, the slower gut activity could affect how steadily your thyroid hormone is absorbed.

The good news is this is a minor interaction. To keep things simple, many people take their thyroid product on an empty stomach and separate it from other medicines. If you notice changes like a racing heart, jitteriness, or feeling sluggish, check in with your pharmacist or doctor before adjusting anything.
