Alfuzosin falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Tree Turmeric interacts with.

Theoretically, tree turmeric might increase the levels and clinical effects of drugs that are substrates of CYP3A4.
In vitro research and preliminary clinical evidence suggest that berberine, a constituent of tree turmeric, moderately inhibits CYP3A4.

Here's the thing to know about pairing tree turmeric (which contains berberine) with your alfuzosin. Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear alfuzosin out. Berberine appears to slow that enzyme down a bit, so alfuzosin can linger and build up higher than usual in your system.

Since alfuzosin is an active drug (not one your body has to switch on), more of it means a stronger effect. That can show up as dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, a faster heartbeat, or even fainting, because alfuzosin already lowers blood pressure. The research here is decent but not certain. I wouldn't panic, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them, and never stop your alfuzosin on your own.

What Is Alfuzosin Used For?

Brand name: Uroxatral

Alfuzosin is used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that can make urination difficult. It helps relax the muscles in the prostate and bladder neck so urine can flow more easily.

It is not approved to treat high blood pressure, and it is not for use in children or women.
